Martin’s Dream is an easy reader book that could also be used as a read-aloud for MLK studies.  It is a Ready-to-Read Level 1 book as it has repetition, familiar words, and simple sentences.  The double-page spreads have one larger picture and words on only one side.  However, this book tells the story of the events of 1963 well.  A really nice sentence in the book says, “When things are fair everywhere, then people will be free.”  That is a profound sentence just thinking about the world events of 2011, much less past efforts.  Even a young child can understand this story and message.

If you have access to this book (or even if you have some other MLK books) the following free work page I made could be used as a follow-up.
