How to Make Your Own Elementary Education Newsletter using Word

I have several posts with free elementary newsletter templates, but you might want more flexibility than they offer.

If Two Free Editable Primary K-2 Newsletters  and or Editable Newsletters for Teachers Five Templates Free PDF do not work for your teaching situation, this post explains how to easily create your own template. First, open a blank Word document, name, and save it.

Second, insert a table with two columns and several rows (as many as you think you will need, some cells will be merged).

Fourth, pull the table to fill the one page only. Of course, you won’t want a newsletter just like this, so keep reading.

Select the top two cells (highlight them) and from layout, merge the cells. This will give a space for the newsletter name. Add the teacher’s name, room number, or other information such as the date.

After merging cells to fit your articles, the table will resemble a newsletter. See how the table looks now? Then images and text may be added. This table will not allow for “word flow” to other cells as that seems to confuse many people. You may select your own fonts and clip art.

After merging cells, the newsletter is ready to add text and pictures. Free images are available on Pixabay.com (even for commercial use) and many other online sites. Watch the video for a demonstration of how to make a newsletter.
