Adventure writing frames help children use their imagination and creativity. This 35 page PDF is in our free eMembers area and offers differentiation.
Teachers may offer differentiation by allowing choice in writing pages, or assign specific pages to individuals or small groups. These pages may be used in a writing center, small group, or large group assignment.
My Adventure Writing begins with a cover page that children may paste a photo of themselves (a selfie printed) or make a drawing. If students draw their own faces, be sure they remember the eyes are about the height of the ears, the forehead is about 1/3 the page, and the mouth is about where the ears end. Hair doesn’t stick straight up from the top of the head but covers the forehead somewhat. Let them look in mirrors and feel their faces to see what to draw. They may draw an imaginary line from the end of their eyes to the top of their ears, and so on.
On this page for the first set, children will color and simply write their names. It says, “My name is _________ and I like to have adventures all over the world and in outer space.”
For the second set, more space for drawing and writing is offered.
On this page, the children will fill in the blanks for:
I like to climb mountains in ______________________.
I like to climb mountains with ___________________.
Maps could be consulted, or learners could make up creative names for mountains.
Most children like animals, even from the jungle. This page asks them to write what they like about the jungle. Jungle storybooks could be consulted for ideas.
Did you have talk like a pirate day in class, or does your class have any pirate enthusiasts? This page allows children to imagine going on a treasure hunt to collect something interesting. They may even think of pirate names for themselves.

Children who like to swim might imagine finding starfish and other ocean creatures. Ocean books might be consulted for words and ideas.
