Guinevere: On the Eve Of Legend, freebie for the book by Cheryl Carpinello. Cheryl has written another book set in the time of King Arthur, and this one is about Guinevere. In Guinevere: On the Eve of Legend, Guinevere is turning 13 and is to give up her childhood pursuits and become the Lady of the Castle. Queen Roslyn is deceased, and Guinevere is to assume ladylike responsibilities which includes marriage to King Arthur. This is not to Guinevereās liking, but as the story progresses, she comes to understand and accept her future role. I bought this book on Kindle, and found it very engaging. At the end of the story, historical information is provided. Did you realize Merlyn lived his life from the future to the past? This book would be wonderful for class discussions.
I have the permission of Cheryl Carpinello to create and share a teaching supplement to accompany the book. This free supplement has reading work pages, answer keys, writing prompts, and rubics. As always, some of the pages in this printable could be used without the actual book, but it would be much nicer to have the book on hand.
Although a retired teacher, Cheryl Carpinello still has a passion for working with kids. She regularly conducts Medieval Writing Workshops for local elementary/middle schools and the Colorado Girl Scouts. She is not the only one who loves Medieval Times and the King Arthur Legend. The kids thoroughly enjoy writing their own medieval stories complete with dragons, wizards, unicorns and knights!
Here is one of the pages included in the printable, the character matching page.

This is a cover for the student work pages. For differentiation, different pages might be assigned for different groups.

This characters page is a true or false page, and students simply circle correct answers.
There are several more pages. One of those pages is also about character traits but this matching looks at them in a different way. Differentiation can be accomplished by assigning pages as best fit the students.

Thanks for reading, Carolyn
